>> KAMPONG BOYS | JULY 2007
april 2006 | singapore river pathway
these bronze scultures can be found on the side of the singapore river. the sculpture is called "first generation" which portrays 5 'kampong' boys who are jumping into the river for a swim. it's a nice view when you walk down the side of the river that leads you to 'boat quay' (locals read it as 'bot-kee'). designed by chong fah cheong, this sculpture meant to capture the simple and happy lifestyle of people once living along the singapore river. i'd say jumping into the river for a swim must feel good back in the days... too bad, today, we don't have the luxury of that anymore. though the river is well maintained, i don't think the water is clean enough for a swim. these days, the river is a tourist destination for a boat tour as another way of enjoying singapore.Labels: 2007

june 6, 2007 | gili trawangan, lombok
i just want to finish off the lombok series before i share you with other pics. so, please bear with me.
for the second time, i visited gili trawangan. the first one was with a bunch of girlfriends and the second time was with my husband. and i still fall in love with the place and its beauty. it's just beautiful and peaceful.. i love the scenary, the beach, the water, everything.
the second time i visited, we didn't stay overnight. we took the public boat that took us from the port in lombok island. the trip only cost us eight-thou rups. damn cheap! we got on those boats (in pic above) along with the local suppliers, sellers, artists, who would cross to the island to make a living. we'd be seeing people with fruits, veggies, poultries, etc.. as part of the stuff they sell to people in the island. it was totally a different experience from my first trip. but worth every trip as i laid down on my feet to the island and saw the breathtaking view! i just love the place...Labels: 2007
