>> FLESH SALSA | NOVEMBER 2007

november 2007 | carl's jr. resto, vivo city - singapore

is it only me or is it really a typo in spelling out "fresh" in the picture above? i don't know.. all i know, no one took notice when i was there, taking this pic with my handphone camera (hence the quality of the picture). i guess maybe that's how singaporean spell it... err.. :P

>> SPIRAL STAIRCASE | AUGUST 2007

august 4, 2007 | bugis village, singapore

everytime i walk around bugis town, i'm always attracted to these colorful spiral staircases of the restored colonial houses. located in the back alley towards bugis junction, it is quite a sight to see the different colors of the stretch staircases along the street.

i'm quite amazed how they are well maintained, including the bright colors in each of the staircase that creates such a beautiful sight. especially these are located at the back of the house, so you have to go to the back alley to can actually capture it.

>> KAMPONG BOYS | JULY 2007

april 2006 | singapore river pathway

these bronze scultures can be found on the side of the singapore river. the sculpture is called "first generation" which portrays 5 'kampong' boys who are jumping into the river for a swim. it's a nice view when you walk down the side of the river that leads you to 'boat quay' (locals read it as 'bot-kee').

designed by chong fah cheong, this sculpture meant to capture the simple and happy lifestyle of people once living along the singapore river. i'd say jumping into the river for a swim must feel good back in the days... too bad, today, we don't have the luxury of that anymore. though the river is well maintained, i don't think the water is clean enough for a swim. these days, the river is a tourist destination for a boat tour as another way of enjoying singapore.

>> ON DOCK | JULY 2007

june 6, 2007 | gili trawangan, lombok

i just want to finish off the lombok series before i share you with other pics. so, please bear with me.

for the second time, i visited gili trawangan. the first one was with a bunch of girlfriends and the second time was with my husband. and i still fall in love with the place and its beauty. it's just beautiful and peaceful.. i love the scenary, the beach, the water, everything.

the second time i visited, we didn't stay overnight. we took the public boat that took us from the port in lombok island. the trip only cost us eight-thou rups. damn cheap! we got on those boats (in pic above) along with the local suppliers, sellers, artists, who would cross to the island to make a living. we'd be seeing people with fruits, veggies, poultries, etc.. as part of the stuff they sell to people in the island. it was totally a different experience from my first trip. but worth every trip as i laid down on my feet to the island and saw the breathtaking view! i just love the place...

>> SUNRISE | JUNE 2007

june 6, 2007 | sasak village - kuta, lombok

continuing last week's picture, this is the sunrise i captured in kuta, lombok on my way to gili trawangan. magnificent view!! if you look closely on the left frame of the picture, there's also a silhouette of foggy mount rinjani.

for me, it's quite a rare momentum, especially because i rarely catch any sunrise... on my vacation!

>> ON A FOGGY PATH | JUNE 2007

june 6, 2007 | sasak village - kuta, lombok

on a recent trip to lombok, we got up real early to catch the morning ride to gili. since we were staying at kuta, lombok.. it required us to wake up before the sunrise. along the way, we stopped by to catch the sunrise. what a beautiful view, especially with the silhouette of the rinjani mountain on the side.

another not-so-ordinary view was the foggy empty road, in the early morning of sasak village. and i caught a view of a lady who was walking to the next village on the empty road... alone. a view i wouldn't get so often.

>> SUNSET IN TANAH LOT | MAY 2007

january 2, 2007 | tanah lot, bali

this was taken on my birthday. i thought i lost the picture cuz it was erased from my camera's memory card accidentally. i just found out that they were still in the memory card, though they were erased. i could recover them since i haven't formatted the card, thankfully!

anyways, as you may familiar, this was taken in tanah lot, bali. it was a magnificent view and an unmemorable moment for me.

tanah lot is a famous rock formation, home of a famous pilgrimage temple, the pura tanah lot and a popular picture spot for tourists. tanah lot means 'land in the middle of the sea' in balinese language. located about 20 km from denpasar, the temple sits on a huge offshore rock which has been shaped continously over the years by the ocean tide. >> "IS IT REFLECTION OR TWIN??" | APRIL 2007

december 9, 2006 | jurong bird park

shame on me! it took me almost 4 months to finally update this page, which should be a "pik-of-da-wik" (picture of the week), not of the 4th month. so truly apologize.

the above picture was taken last december on my one-too-many trips to singapore. it was, surprisingly, my first time to visit the bird park and it was a nice visit. the park is very well maintained and i had a chance to try my new lens. it's a 70-300 lens which i can use to get a long-distanced object. just like the picture above where i had to take it inside this huge bird cage, filled with flying, colorful birds.

i found these two birds standing next to each other. they look very similar, and i tried to capture it so as if the bird stands right in front of each other and looked as if they were looking through a mirror. so what do you think? is it a reflection or twin birds? :D
