>> place: balikpapan port

on the first day i arrived in balikpapan, my dad took us to take a boat ride to the reservation area where the forest is located. we stayed in reservation area for a whole day and night. while waiting for the boat to be prepared for the half-hour trip, i looked around and took some pictures around the port. i felt the originality of the place, just how it was when i still lived there more than a decade ago. the smell of the salt water, the kids running around asking to be of help to the boarders.

the view of the long port where the boats are ported, may be just a regular view. but i found it really nice on my frame. the beach, yet it's not the kind of beach you would swim into, feels as if it has so much to offer out there. when we got there, it was in the middle of the afternoon and the sun brights so shiny, hence the brightness in the sky. i would love to see the sunset here again one day.

>> "DREAMLAND" | MARCH 2005

[previous: "three friends in paradise"]

>> event: trip to bali
>> place: dreamland beach

dreamland is this secluded beach on the way to uluwatu in bali. it's so secluded that there aren't that many people around and the beach is still clean. though it's not as secluded as before, it's still pretty empty. i took a friend who just visited bali for the first time when alaya took us to this place. and one thing he kept repeating over and over.. "damn, bali is so magnificent.." and coming from a friend who spent most of his time abroad, it was a comforting feeling that he realizes that our country is very beautiful, our resources are very rich, just need to be reserved. though i understand that us, indonesians, are not very much well aware of it, and the mental of the people is just want to get-rich-quick by exploiting everything to make money withouth thinking the consequences. well.. we have a long hard way to fix that.

in the meantime.. look at that beautiful view. the color gradation of the beach, the nice clear water, clean white sand beach, and beautiful sky. so very pretty.. doesn't it?
