>> "THE BEST HOT DOG IN NYC" | DECEMBER 2003 - WEEK 2

[previous: "snowy empire state"]

>> picture taken on: november 27, 2003
>> photographer: sLesTa
>> event: munchies after thanksgiving dinner
>> place: gray's papaya on 8th street & 6th ave.

if you've been to new york city, you know that gray's papaya serves the best hot dog in town. new york hot dogs are served in a bun with just ketchup and mustard, whichever you prefer. some would like to put onions or sauerkraut on top.

is it really the best? well, you gotta try it. all i know it's madly cheap ($2.59 for two hot-dogs and a drink called "the recession special") and it's supposedly cleaner than those they sell on the streets. just watch out for those parking regulations when you stop by to get a bite of these dogs.. cuz the last time i went there, we got $115 parking ticket for not reading the parking sign that there was a midnight rules (no parking after midnight). it become one of the most expensive "hot dogs" i've ever tasted. :)

>> "CHINA IN NEW YORK" | OCTOBER 2003 - WEEK 3

[previous: "highrise clouds"]

>> picture taken on: july 2003
>> photographer: unknown
>> event: drove around nyc
>> place: bowery st.

new york city has been known as a melting pot, where people from all places stayed in one place and mixed their original cultures to their so-called 'new home'. if you drive around in downtown manhattan, you'll see the picture. where chinatown is door-to-door with little italy, in between the financial district and the hippest place in town, soHo.

if you look closely at the picture above, all signs are in chinese characters, even the people in it are asians. not even a caucasian or the so-called bule is in it. makes you wonder if this was taken in new york city or in one of the asian cities. if i didn't tell you that this was indeed taken in one part of downtown new york city, you couldn't tell, could you?

>> "HIGHRISE CLOUDS" | OCTOBER 2003 - WEEK 2

[previous: "ini ibu budi...! :D"]

>> picture taken on: september 27, 2003
>> photographer: sLesTa
>> event: dinner in manhattan
>> place: 47th (or maybe 48th) street and 3rd ave.

it was foggy that night. officially, summer was already over but the temperature has dropped quite a lot. not normal for a night at the end of september. as i was looking up while driving around looking for parking somewhere around midtown manhattan, i saw the clouds were moving fast among the highrise buildings. i've always been fascinated with the skies lately, especially after the hurricane isabel warnings. the clouds would move so fast along with the strong winds it brings. in a way it's kinda scary to see them move that fast, it feels as if you can totally see that the earth indeed rotates. but look at it.. isn't that just breath taking?

ps: camera flash was not used to take this picture..

>> "INI IBU BUDI...! :D" | OCTOBER 2003 - WEEK 1

[previous: "is that a moon?"]

>> picture taken on: summer 2003
>> photographer: dian's hubby
>> event: kopdaran ama dian pras
>> place: union square park

dari kemaren sebenernya gue rada bingung mau naro foto apa di pikofdawik minggu ini. abis kayaknya gak ada foto² yang menarik. i was kinda hesitated to put up this picture, because both dian and i don't want to brag too much about our first meeting.. but hey, isn't it a nice summery picture??

and just to show how small this blogworld than it seems to be.. setelah ketemuan ama dian *or sometimes i call, bu budi.. hihih..* kita akhirnya hangout di union square. on our way back to the subway station, i bumped into mr. dxpx who is apparently dian's high school friend and they never knew about it although both have been in contacts in this blogworld *haven't you guys?* .. what a small world, right?

>> "IS THAT A MOON? | SEPTEMBER 2003 - WEEK 3

[previous: "what would they sell??"]

>> picture taken on: first week of june, this year
>> photographer: my bro
>> event: mom & dad's last day in new york
>> place: brooklyn, near the river cafe

in response to ita's recent posting about an 'alien' subject on the picture she took, i also have a similar thing happened recently. on the last day of my parents' visit to new york city this past summer, we took them to brooklyn to get a nice picture with manhattan background. it was foggy that day and kinda chilly. the clouds were covering the sky. nonetheless, we still took some pictures. this picture came out and we thought it was just such a perfect picture with a moon in between the skylines. then we looked up.. there was no MOON! so we thought maybe the moon was covered by the clouds.. but how come it came out so clear?? it could be just a drop in our camera lens, and it could be for other reasons. but it still unexplainable what that thing really is. to compare how another picture with the same background came out, click here. it was taken only a few seconds before.

>> photographer: sLesTa
>> event: traffic in manhattan
>> place: manhattan, west side around midtown area

so finally, my cable modem at home is all working!! but i can't find any good pictures for pikofdawik. hmm.. but hey.. look at the picture above. if you look closely, it says "EXPRESS DIE, INC." with the word "express" already taken out.. but still i wonder, what kind of company is this? and what the hell would they sell with that kind of company's name.. weird.. only in new york, kids.. only in new york

[previous: "merah putih"]

>> picture taken on: a long long time ago....
>> photographer: my dad... i think
>> event: couldn't remember.. just a family outing..
>> place: somewhere in bogor

okay.. okay.. don't laugh!! that is a lil' old me.. with my mom and my younger brother, taken a long time ago. it's an overdue pikofdawik.. i just gotta put another picture now that it's already september. but the problem is all my files are in my computer at home.. and i just moved out of the old apartment over the weekend, and i don't have any internet at home yet. so, this will just have to make-do right now.. since i have this pic in my files somewhere in my server.. itung² nostalgia deh.. ehhee.. it's such an old picture, but it's a nice one and i do want to preserve this, scanned it and saved digitally.. you can just tell how old it is by the discolouring edges..

btw, i have to apologize for a temporary "hiatus".. well it's not really a hiatus.. but i won't be able to mess around with the site until my cable modem is back on in my new apartment. until then.. there'll be no changes.. but i'll make sure to answer the tagboards.. i do check them everyday.. *nyuri² dikit di waktu kerja.. hehe.. *

[previous: "only in mexico"]

>> picture taken on: august 17, 2003
>> photographer: sLesTa
>> event: indonesian's independence day celebration
>> place: KJRI, NYC

in the spirit our indonesian's 58th independence day, there was a celebration at the indonesian consulate in new york city. too bad we came in too late although we did meet a lot of faces we haven't met for awhile, including mr.dxpx. i took this picture using my new digital camera in front of the consulate and it came out considerably okay. i thought this picture was a perfect one in the spirit of our independence day as mr. dxpx (in red) standing next to mar (in white).

rocky's back... and he's taking out two boys at the same time. hihihi.. this picture is so hillarious cuz of the expression from both den and jeff, the ambiguosly duo. apparently, they saw a statue of rocky balboa on the boardwalk in atlantic city and they just can't help it but take a picture with it. and so... here it is..

[previous: "six flags photo booth"]

>> picture taken on: july 3rd, 2003
>> photographer: my bro
>> event: hangin' out around soHo
>> place: soHo on prince street

if you've been to new york city and had a chance to walk around in soHo, you'll see this statue stands in one of the store on prince street. it's been there for as long as i can remember. what's so unique about it? hmm.. look closely.. !!! it's a statue of a woman with small head, eight pair of tits and a big ass. i don't even remember what this statue calls and how it came about.. but it looks degrading to women, doesn't it? but hey.. it's one of the famous visit in soHo cuz everyone who passes by *especially tourists* will stop and take their time to look at this statue. wouldn't you?

note on the last pikofdawik:
