Spunspun is an indie movie. so don't expect anything fancy from it.. and it's definitely a movie that you couldn't relate the story to, unless if you're out there. what i mean by that is when you're already into all these movie industry.. and not just hollywood industry.. cuz this is beyond hollywood. spun is a glimpse into the frantic world of methamphetamine addicts. everyone in the movie is high on metahmphetamine or also known as cocaine. all the characters are playing weird characters that expertly combines the gritty reality of drug addiction with occasional biting humor for an unforgettable look at lives spinning out of control. since it was first aired in the toronto international film festival 2002, this movie has wowed the audiences for its portrayal of the reality of the addiction. the performances of all the actors, including a glimpse of billy corgan, who provides the soundtrack, debbie harris *from the blondies*, mickey rourke as "the cook", and the starring cast of john leguizama, jason schwartzman, brittany murphy, and mena suvari, even to the famous porn-star ron jeremy were outstanding. weird yet funny.

the takes of the screens were also original. almost kinda like guy ritchie's lock, stock and two smoking barrels and snatch with this fast editing to the small details.. this movie also kinda reminds me a little to requiem for a dream. so how would i rate it? well.. it's definitely an original and definitely an indie. not many people would like it *especially those who are big fans of hollywood* but it's a fresh way of telling story as many other indie movies. different angle to choose, different way of story-telling.. something that you wouldn't expect a director would put on the screen. the story? well.. it's basically about a guy who's trying to get high and always been high and meet several weird people through his journey of getting the 'coke'. there may not be a story line.. but the development of the characters are the interesting one. "the cook" for example. he's the one who makes the 'coke' from scratch, lock himself in a room with all this chemistry-looking tools to 'cook' the 'stuff' for days. he admits that the longest he was 'on' the stuff was for 14-15 days. *damn.. no sleep*. he's so out of the world, out of reality that he could no longer get in touch with people around him. on the last part when he told about his childhood, he literally tells it with no emotions... as if it was a common thing that happens.

so although the movie is weird, as i said.. it's a fresh breeze to the movie genre. so i'd give it a 3 stars. this movie just opened last week, so i wouldn't expect you can see it anytime soon. the fact that this movie is an indie might give you a hard time to look for it. so, good luck finding it..
