weekend kemaren gue nonton film ini. walopun udah keluar di bioskop dari dua minggu sebelomnya.. gue akhirnya baru sempet nonton ke bioskop lagi. many people told me that this is one excellent movie, but i didn't wanna keep my hopes up when i bought the ticket. i thought.. well, i know ed norton is there.. but mark wahlberg? i actually think that he is a good actor, but i don't think he was ever in a good movie where he plays a good lead role (besides in 'planet of the apes' which i think pretty okay.. but so-so for his performance).

this movie was a remake of the original movie made in 1969 out of the same title. michael caine and noel edwards starred in the original movie. i actually didn't know that this movie was a remake until when i wanna post this review. the movie is pretty much a combination of ocean's eleven and the score. ceritanya tentang 6 orang professional thiefs yang jago banget, john bridget, charlie choker, handsome rob, left ear, steve, and lyle. the master planner was john bridget played by donald sutherland, dan second man nya si charlie choker (mark wahlberg) yang sangat teliti bikin plan buat job² mereka. charlie looked up to john as his own father while john was always feel guilty about being away from his daughter (charlize theron) most of the time.

on their recent job in venice, italy... they planned such a perfect heist that they actually get away with it. john promised his daughter that it'd be his last job. unfortunately, one of the gang betrayed them and took the stolen gold for himself and he got away after he shot john and confirmed everybody was dead. but they didn't. they all survived, but john. and one year later, they got together after locating the 'traitor' and tried to take the stolen gold. this time it wasn't about the money, but it's for the revenge he did for shooting their friend. and to take john's place in the gang, they offer the job to stella, john's daughter.. and the game begins.

it's a witty movie, a smart writing and smart dialogue with lots of humor in it. although i kinda feel it has so much ads in this movie, particularly on the mini cooper, although it was working cuz now i feel like i wanna have one. :D also lyle (seth green) as the hacker was pretty funny cuz it was told that he was the real napster and shawn fanning took the idea from him when they were roommates in collage. and when he hacked the traffic control, it was such a cool thing..

one thing that i thought was a plus of this movie is that the characters were exploit at a balance and everybody has their own highlights. unlike in ocean's eleven when the focus is only on the 'duo', this movie can bring out everyone's character. although the movie has a nice story, i don't find any sparks on the way it the camera move (or maybe because i was too focused on the story line). it feels just as any other action/adventure movies, but with a kick on the story line that after the movie ends, it leaves a good feeling cuz 'the good guy' has won. but then again, there is no good guys, cuz they're all thieves.. :D

anyways.. i really enjoyed watching the movie and i thought it was a good one. and o yeah.. mark wahlberg was really good in it!!
